Courses - Diving Center Cap d'Agde

You’ve already tried diving and want to perfect your skills and expand your diving horizons. The dive instructors here at Abyss Plongée will help you become a fully qualified diver of any level.

Two options:

  • A French qualification (ANMP or FFESSM)
  • International PADI course – best suited for divers who travel a lot!

For all courses, we need a medical statement stating you’re eligible to dive.  This needs to be less than 1 year old. You can get these from your local doctor, or give us a call if you need a recommendation for one here.

 

French Diving Courses:

PE12: Supervised diver to 12m

he PE12 is 4 technical dives long and will allow the diver to go diving in groups with an instructor at depths up to 12m.

Participants need to be minimum 12 years of age.


Level 1 (or PE20)

With this level you will be able to participate in group dives led by an instructor down to 20m deep! The qualification is the equivalent to the CMAS 1* or (CEDIP1*) which will be noted on your qualification card. 
With this course, you will learn throughout 6 dives the basics of diving so you will be able to prepare all your equipment yourself as well as know how to use it all when underwater. All of this will be supervised by your instructor.

Participants need to be a minimum of 12 years of age.

 

PE40: Supervised diver to 40m

Over the course of 4 technical dives you will learn how to dive under the supervision of an instructor to 40m.

This course is accessible to those already qualified as a level 1 and older than 16.

 

PA12: Autonomous diver to 12m

Over the course of 4 technical dives, you will learn to dive independently to 12m. *Always dive with a buddy*

Participants must be 16 or over and have their level 1. 

 

PA20: Autonomous diver to 20m 

Over the course of 4 technical dives, you will learn to dive independently to 20m. *Always dive with a buddy*

Participants must be 16 or over and have their level 1 AND the PA12. 

 

Level 2: (or PE40+PA20)

This is for divers who wish to dive independently to 20m (without guide or instructor) and to dive supervised to 40m. The qualification is the equivalent to the CMAS 2* or (CEDIP 2*) which will be noted on your qualification card. Over the course of 10 dives you will learn, planning, orientation, aiding an injured diver, as well as theory lessons and diving to 40m supervised.

This course is accessible to those already qualified as a level 1 and older than 16.

 

PA40: Autonomous diver to 40m 

Over the course of 6 technical dives you will learn how to dive independently to 40m. *Always dive with a buddy*

Participants must be 18 or over and have their Level 2 or the PA20.

 

Level 3 (or PE60 + PA60)

The Level 3 is the highest level you can go as a recreational diver which allows you to dive independently to 60m. The qualification is the equivalent to the CMAS 3* or (CEDIP 3*) which will be noted on your qualification card.

This high level course can be completed in 8 technical dives. Already having gained experience as a level 2, we will push you to become a diver ready for any situation no matter the depth. You will also be first aid trained thanks to two of the dives being orientated around rescuing.

This course is accessible to those already qualified as a level 2 or PA40 and older than 18.

 

Level 4 : Dive Guide - (please consult us)

This level is the first step to becoming a professional. This qualification allows you to become a dive guide responsible for your buddy team.  You will be able to lead qualified divers to depths of up to 40m.


On top of the technical competences (rescue, free diving, etc..) we also wish to develop true leadership skills as a dive guide. This level is conducted over a predetermined time frame, so please get in touch for more information.

International Diving Courses PADI

Are you an avid traveller?

Abyss Plongée is a 5* PADI dive centre that can train you from a Scuba diver to a Dive Master! The PADI qualifications are recognised worldwide allowing for easy diving abroad.

PADI Scuba Diver:

With this qualification, you will be able to dive under an instructors supervision to 12m.

This is the first part of the Open Water course, it is good to do if you are short on time or if you wish to remain supervised by an instructor. Over the course of 4 technical dives, you will learn the basics of diving.

Participants must be aged 10 or over. 

 

PADI Open Water Diver

The Open Water Diver course is 8 dives in which you develop your skills to become an independent diver capable of diving to 18m and in full control of your equipment in and out the water. This course requires some theory which you can do either before your holiday or after, thanks to the PADI Touch or you can purchase the manual and complete the test in our club.

Participants need to be 10 years or older. 

 

PADI Advanced Open Water

This 5 dive course allows you to perfect your dive skills and discover new elements of diving.  Each dive is themed and can be tailored to your desires. As a club we have set the first two dives to being an orientation dive and a deep dive as we believe these open up many great opportunities in your diving career. The three following dives are up to you, we offer wreck diving, night diving, peak performance buoyancy among others!

To take part in this course you need to be at least 12 years of age and an Open Water Diver. 

 

PADI Rescue Diver

Challenging but rewarding is how many describe the Rescue course.  This qualification will give you the capacity to prevent and manage any diving incidents before and after they may occur.

The Rescue diver is essentially a marine first aider. The course is fun helping you to overcome challenges and obtaining the necessary skills. This is the highest qualification you can get with PADI before you become a Professional. The course is over 6 dives.

The participant needs to be 18 years of age and have their Advanced Open Water qualification.

 

PADI Dive Master

The Dive Master Course is the first step to becoming a PADI Pro where you will be qualified to lead dives and conduct Try Dives. For more information on this course, please get in touch.

Marine First Aide Training (RIFAP)

The RIFAP training is a first aid training preparing you for in water and diving incidents specifically those in relation to FFESSM activities. It teaches you how to perform many aspects of first aid in water, how to contact emergency services as well as first aid specifically related to diving. 

It is a necessary course if you want to undertake the level 3, 4 or become an instructor FFESSM.

The participants must be 16 or older.

Nitrox Diving

Nitrox diving is where there is Nitrogen and more Oxygen in your tank giving you a better désaturation rate. Other advantages of Nitrox diving is longer dive times, safer diving and less fatigue after the dive so you can better enjoy your holidays ;)

Nitrox is optimal for divers who wish to do multiple dives a day or who wish to be more safety conscious, or for those who just want longer down under!

To take this course, the participant must be 14 years or older and have a French Level 1 or the PADI Open Water Diver.

 

Advanced Nitrox

For deep sea divers, the Advanced  Nitrox allows you to use mixes of enriched air from 40% O2 to 100% whilst using decompression blocks of specific Nitrox to accelerate désaturation rate without any depth limits. To take this course, the participant must be 16 years or older and have a French Level 2 or the first Nitrox qualification.
